Ramakrishna Tapovan - a registered public charitable trust with its centre of activities at the sacred town of Polali, 22kms from Mangalore - was formed on 16th November, 2002. It is a member Ashram of Ramakrishna - Vivekananda Bhava Prachar Parishad, advised by Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, West Bengal.Its aim is to implement "Practical Vedanta" among the masses, as it was taught and practiced by Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda. It is presumed that God realization shall be the ultimate goal to be achieved and every activity shall be centered on this one theme.
In order to cater the growing requirements of the society for value based education Ramakrishna Tapovan has taken up a new school project. Education can transform the present while laying the foundation for a greater future. With this noble Intention of creating an institution of empowerment. Ramakrishna Tapovana Polali has set out to build a new centre of learning that will combine the best of traditional wisdom and modern education. Ramakrishna Vidyadegula will be home to three key institutions - a state-of-the-art school for day scholars that will follow the state board syllabus along with a Preuniversity College, a Gurukula that will offer Practical Vedanta and the Vivekananda Centre for Human Excellence.
Spread over 6 acres at Pallipedy near Polall, this centre will offer an opportunity for young minds to grow & pursue education in a serene, pollution-free green ambience.
The school block will be a structure of total four floors (ground+3) and host classrooms for students from Lower KG to lind PUC, science laboratories, music and art room, staff rooms, office rooms of the Chairman, Principal & Vice Principal, a reception area, toilets and others. This block is estimated to be spread over a carpet area of 81,045 sq ft. With a construction cost of Rs 2,300/sq ft, the school block is estimated to cost Rs 18.65 Crores.

The Day school will follow the state board syllabus and be equipped with state-of-the art digital classrooms, science laboratories, library, art, vocational trainings and music learning facility. Various activities that will physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually strengthen the children ranging from music & dance, to traditional martial arts, to horse riding, to arts & craft among others will also be undertaken. Students will be trained to be proficient in English, Kannada, Hindi and Sanskrit, with special efforts made to turn sanskrit into a language of communication. Those who opt for the Gurukula system will have an opportunity to be entrusted the ancient wisdom of this land & be its ambassadors to the world as they grow up. The Gurukula will tutor young boys to transform into Acharyas through the pursuit of ancient Indian wisdom. Living with the Acharyas and following a Practical Vedic way of life, the students will have an opportunity to be bearers of the priceless wisdom of the lineage of our Gurus and sages.
Spread over a carpet area of 46, 475 sq ft, this home away from home for students will facilitate their after-school learning and grooming into well-groomed and cultured citizens. With a total of four floors (ground +3) this hostel will have separate dorm rooms, caretaker rooms, separate toilets and bathrooms, spacious study hall, and a large dining hall and kitchen. The total cost of this hostel is estimated to be around Rs. 11.92 Crores
To facilitate all round development of the students, we propose Vivekananda Centre for Human Excellence on campus. Aimed at taking the work, words, and wisdom of Swami Vivekananda to as many people as possible, this will be a space that facilitates spiritual retreats and training sessions by monastic members and other resource persons. Along with a stage for hosting various cultural performances and a green room, the auditorium will have seating capacity of around 1090 people. It will also serve as a venue for conduct of camps, seminars, workshops and courses by experts for students as well as members of the larger society including teachers, corporates, professionals, students, among others. The centre will also have 30 suite rooms and a dining area with a seating capacity of 310 persons. A total carpet area of around 58,443 sq ft this centre is estimated to cost Rs 16.37 Crores. It will also serve as a venue for conduct of camps, seminars, workshops and courses by experts for students as well as members of the larger society including teachers, corporates, professionals, students, among others.
